Terry lost 171 POUNDS on the Bella Nutra Plan! heard that right...171 POUNDS!!!
Terry's Starting Weight: 425 Interim Weight: 254 Working on it for 14 months so far...
Light bulb Moment (what made you decide to make a change)? I have a young boy who was 3 when I started Bella Nutra (BN). I could not chase him around, or even climb a set of stairs without being totally winded. I decided if I wanted him to have a Dad that could really play with him, I had to get healthy.
I had just returned from a trip, and was feeling especially bloated. Some of the people at church had done BN, with great results, so I thought I would give it a try. How did you do it? After checking out the website, and talking to both Fred & Lisa, my wife and I decided to start the 12 week program. It was expensive, but for me that was actually a motivator...if I was to spend that much money, I was going to give it my best. Honestly, it has been the best money I have ever spent on myself.
What was the biggest challenge you faced? How did you overcome it? The biggest challenge was 40+ years of bad eating habits, an emotional addiction to food, and the lifestyle of comfort eating. I was addicted to sugar, carbs and fat. It was very hard to give that up.  I was able to give these up as I really committed to the change. I had an AMAZING mentor, who has been with me through the whole process, and I could not have done it without her.
What was the single thing that helped you most along the way, especially when things got tough? My mentor (Lisa) was the best part of the program. She has been there every step of the way. Through my fits, anger, rebellion, whining, and a lot more (besides just the food). She has prodded, cajoled, encouraged, me without ever being judgmental or critical. Without her, there is NO WAY I could have done this. Lisa kept me accountable both to myself and her, which helped a lot. Just knowing I would have to report in helped me avoid a lot of bad choices. Even when I did go AWOL she welcomed me back, gave me strategies for getting back on the program, and motivating me to do better next time. Did I say ALL WITHOUT BEING JUDGMENTAL OR CRITICAL? It was hard sometimes owning up, but it has shown me the biggest key: When I screw up now I know I can regroup, get back on the program, and go forwards. That has been the biggest change between this program and every other diet I have ever been on. This has made the difference. How has your life changed since losing the weight?I am now able to play with Parker, ride bikes with him, play catch and tag and have the energy to (mostly) keep up. I feel a lot better about myself, and the way I look. It still surprises me when I go to put on pants...they look so small!
Advice for someone just starting? Accountability is key. Call in, email, text but stay accountable. Lisa (or whoever you mentor is) will not judge or condemn you, they are there to help, and will - if you let them. Stick with it. I have been at this for 14 months so far, and have lost 171 pounds. I want to loose another 55-60. I am staying on the BN program both for the loss, as well as the help in transitioning to a maintenance phase. The program works, if you stick with it.
Anything else that you would like to share? The last thing I will say is thanks. Thanks to Lisa for enduring the fits, etc; thanks to the BN program for giving me a life back that is not wrapped in bacon. I still have a ways to go, but I know that I can do it, with help to be sure, but I will get there.
I will be back to share the rest of the story when I get to my goal weight so stay tuned!
